What is a Digital Agency?

It’s hard to define what we do really. We’re a company that has the ability to listen to your ideas and create a complete strategy for getting that idea to market along with the necessary vehicles such as website, app or advertising material in the form of banner or html5 specific shows. So you see – it’s a very broad arena. So we choose the term “Digital Agency” to encompass all things technology that help our clients create, deliver, promote, engage and communicate their way to success.

Online Markerting Trends

Consider your market now and in 2014

An older but interesting article by Steve Ruble regarding the fact that there will be no tangible ads by 2014 (We’re talking USA here) and while I don’t agree entirely with him, I do agree with many points made.

The one that really sticks out

for us here is that in 2014 the demographic change will be that 13 to 15 year old kids today will be our 18 – 20 year old market then.

So looking at that – I know my own kids have NEVER picked up a paper to look for toys, bands, movie times or anything else. In fact my 6 year old just spent an hour last night online going over all the toy sites such as Target.com.au to do his xmas list to santa. He did this all on his own and only request for help was ” Is Indiana Jones  with a space in it?” (must be some cool Indiana Jones lego stuff out there)

I don’t think this is a case of “when they get older they will discover the newspaper or print material”.

It is a complete shift away from the traditional print media or tangible media as Steve mentions to the online arena. Make of it what you will …. I know that if I wanted to ensure the effectiveness of my advertising dollar I would be working out now how I keep my 6, 9 and 14 year old happy  in 2014.

I was trying to get in touch with my 16 year old son yesterday to see what his plans were for after school, it’s never the same from morning to afternoon, and realized that instead of calling his cell I was texting and that he actually got annoyed if I called. Why? He can have several conversations at the same time if he is texting, calling and talking nails him down to just one.

The teenagers now seem to be more interested in quantity and speed, and think nothing of giving up the personal touch that a voice conversation or hand written note impart.

Thinking about these shifting base lines in our culture though interesting are a little scary .

Great read! A lot of small business owners just don’t get it! In 2008 the search engines exceeded the Yellow pages as a primary tool for finding local businesses. This is not a fad, and the trend will only continue.

    Thanks for the information.

Years ago, people were talking about how to market to millennial generation. Now looking ahead, it seems like this is the start of the slow disappearance of print ads.

Interesting read. Agree with you that tangible ads will still be around, but definitely in a much smaller form.

    Hey Thanks Tim,
I wrote this 3 years ago – I know the tab states it was Jan 2012, however our blog moved at this time and the dates do not reflect on the articles. I’s going to sound even funnier in 2014 I bet.
    Cheers for the comment though.
