In the past security and surveillance cameras made videos that were displayed on a monitor screen to upgrade our home security Systems. Some even saved the footage in a memory storage device like a disc or memory card. This process is often termed tedious in a way that you must sit in front of a computer screen for hours. However, there have been many advancements in technology nowadays. The new breakthroughs in science have opened doors to a lot of new possibilities. Closed circuit Television (CCTV) cameras nowadays are different from the conventional ones. The introduction of Mobile Monitoring means that they can be fully synchronized with mobiles and provide a live feed to you anywhere you want. You can view the broadcast from the camera at any place with an internet connectivity. Recorded surveillance videos can also be viewed later. Overall this system is very handy and convenient.
The big question here is that how can you do it? One way is through mobile applications available on the internet. Some applications like SuperLiveHD can be used to view CCTV broadcast on your mobile. First, you must connect the CCTV Digital Video Recorder (DVR) to a monitor of a computer directly through HDMI or VGA cable. After this, you must configure the settings for both the DVR and the WIFI router using the computer. What this does is that it enables the router to synchronize with the DVR and hence now you can disconnect the computer from the DVR. The DVR can be directly linked to the WIFI device using a Local Area Network (LAN)/Ethernet cable. Finally, the IP address and user ID can be used to view the CCTV footage on a mobile with a preinstalled application like the one mentioned above and connected to the configured WIFI network. This is a lengthy, but effective method for establishing a secure connection. However, you must be in the vicinity of the WIFI network to view the video.
But what if you want to leave your workplace or home and still want to observe what your CCTV cameras see. Some mobile surveillance applications are such that they allow you to view the video using an active internet connection. Some examples of such applications include MobileFocus, VMobile, and iCamViewer. To enable mobile monitoring, any application can be used that your surveillance system company approves. There are two methods that can be used in this context. First one is like the one mentioned above, with the only difference being this that the IP address must be set to static. However, some systems support a Dynamic DNS and so such a static configuration is not needed there. In this way, you can view what the camera’s show by having an active internet connection and using the static IP address set for the CCTV.
The other method is for the CCTV systems that cannot support a LAN cable. A Video Capture Card is installed in the camera. Then the necessary software is installed on a computer which would enable it to identify the input from the Card. A video streaming software is used and input from the card is set as the streaming source. The input received by the CPU can be adjusted to give output to a mobile previously connected to the CPU using wireless connectivity. By this, the video stream can be viewed on both the mobile and monitor by this.
Using mobile monitoring is very simple and straightforward. It is certainly very useful as you can conveniently inspect your surroundings and control the camera if it’s a PTZ (pan, tilt, and zoom) type. Mobile connectivity greatly improves the functionality of the camera. Thus, it’s a modern requirement for everyone who wants to efficiently carry out surveillance of their personal property.
